Monday, May 21

Not much happened today. The session started late due to a mix-up at the accreditation. It took two to three hours to get your badge! First point to be discussed was what procedure should be followed for the 6 NGOs(so far) who have been denied accreditation to the WCAR (Human Rights in China, the International Campaign for Tibet and the Tibetan Centre for Human Rights and Democracy). The discussion started in the morning session and continued after lunch. I'm not sure what was decided, but I'll find out tomorrow. We spent a lot of time today to find people to write articles for the web site and the summaries on un-discussion, so the real reporting will start tomorrow. For now it looks like it is going to be a very difficult and long meeting as so far nobody agrees on anything and the conference declaration and plan of action now are 205 pages. There's even rumors the PremCom will continue for a week longer than originally planned. Extra evening sessions have been put in on tuesday and wednesday. By the end of this week/beginning next week the NGOs will have the opportunity to address the PrepCom verbally and to present the declaration and plan of action from the NGO Forum. Sangoco, the Co-ordination Committee and the International Steering Committee are working hard on getting it done, a final version will be put out as soon as possible.
